Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS) and the ACI Lebanon Chapter are thrilled to launch the ACI Mortar Workability Student Competition 2026, a dynamic platform designed to inspire engineering students to push the boundaries of sustainable mortar design and performance.
This competition aims to empower the next generation of civil engineers to innovate in material formulation, testing, and optimization with a focus on sustainability, workability, and practical engineering application.
The competition challenges participants to design a mortar mixture that achieves optimal flowability and stability while integrating sustainability principles. Students will test their designs under controlled laboratory conditions to evaluate performance.
Winners of the ACI Student Competition 2026 will be honored at the Future Concrete Conference 2026, receiving official certificates and global recognition for their achievements.
1st Place: A fully sponsored trip to attend the ACI Fall Convention 2026 in Atlanta, USA.
2nd & 3rd Place: Certificates of recognition and professional exposure during the conference.
This event not only provokes innovation but also provides students with an opportunity to connect with industry leaders, professors, and international organizations advancing construction technology.

Testing and Evaluation
Participants will conduct tests to measure:
Flowability: Evaluated through time and completeness of mold filling.
Stability: Determined by solid-liquid separation after 30 minutes.
Environmental Impact: Based on calculated Global Warming Potential (GWP) and cost efficiency per mix.
Each mortar mix will be scored according to:
The three teams with the highest efficiency scores will be declared winners.
This year’s competition reinforces ACTS’ and ACI’s shared mission to promote sustainability, innovation, and technical precision in civil engineering education.
By challenging students to develop eco-friendly materials and optimize workability, the event bridges the gap between academic learning and industry application. It also raises awareness about reducing carbon emissions and enhancing resource efficiency in mortar production.
